The problem

Billed by the hour. Spent at the keyboard.

Your practice writes one- to eight-page client letters every day, on top of briefs, emails, and time entries. Typing is the slowest part of the job — and none of it is the work clients pay for.

Words per minuteTyping~40Voibe~150You think faster than you type. Dictation keeps up.
75 min

to type one eight-page client letter

At forty words a minute, a single long letter eats the afternoon. Spoken, it’s twenty minutes.

for tools that are outdated and slow

Dragon still needs hours of voice training, runs on a legacy engine, and only on Windows. You pay a premium for 2010 technology.

Uploaded

is where most AI dictation sends privileged audio

Generic tools ship your client’s voice to their servers, keep it, and train on it. That’s a Rule 1.6 conversation you don’t want to have.

The fix

Speak. Voibe writes it, cleanly.

Why firms switch

  • No four-figure, per-seat license
  • No hours of voice training — and nothing to retrain after a crash
  • Runs on today’s Macs, not just Windows
  • Cleaner drafts, less correcting
  • Same privacy, plus a private cloud option
Customer story

Years on Dragon. One hard-drive crash. Done.

For years, both I and the firm I was with used Dragon. Before that we had one secretary for every attorney. Then my hard drive was irrevocably destroyed. I got everything back because I’m cloud-based — the only thing I couldn’t get back was Dragon. I thought it would take months to retrain. There’s no retraining on Voibe. There’s no training at all. The learning curve is extremely short. It’s very intuitive.

Frequently asked questions

I use Dragon today — is switching hard?
No. There's no voice-profile to train and no lengthy setup — install Voibe, pick your hotkey, and you're dictating in minutes. Bring your custom terms over by adding them to Voibe's dictionary. Most people are up and running the same day.
My hard drive died and I lost my Dragon profile. Can that happen with Voibe?
No. Voibe has no voice profile to build, so there is nothing to lose. If a machine dies or you get a new one, reinstall, sign in, and you're dictating at full accuracy in minutes.
Does Voibe protect attorney-client privilege?
Yes. On Apple Silicon Macs, audio is transcribed on-device and never leaves your machine. On Intel Macs and Windows, dictation runs through a zero-data-retention private cloud: audio is deleted the moment it's transcribed, never stored, and never used to train AI.
Does using Voibe satisfy my confidentiality obligations under ABA Model Rule 1.6?
Voibe is built so the answer is easy. In on-device mode, audio never leaves your Mac — there is no third party to vet. In private cloud mode, audio is transcribed and deleted in the same second, with zero retention and no model training, so no client information is stored anywhere. Your professional duties around device access, backups, and retention still apply, as they would with any tool.
What is the best dictation app for lawyers?
The one that knows legal vocabulary, keeps privileged audio off third-party servers, needs no voice training, and works inside Word, Outlook, and your practice management system. Dragon pioneered legal dictation but costs $799+ per seat, is Windows-only, and ties you to a voice profile. Voibe was built to be the modern replacement: legal dictionary, on-device or zero-retention cloud, Mac and Windows, from $19 per seat.
Is it accurate enough for legal work?
Voibe uses modern speech models with a custom dictionary for legal terminology — citations, Latin phrases, party names — so drafts come out clean with minimal editing. For court-admissible, certified verbatim transcripts, a certified court reporter remains the standard.
Does Voibe ever train AI on my dictation?
Never. Voibe does not train models on your voice or text in either mode, and keeps zero data retention. Audio is discarded immediately after transcription.
Does it spell the American way — “honorable”, not “honourable”?
Yes. Voibe supports both US and UK English. Open Settings, choose your preference under English spelling, and every draft follows it — “honorable”, “judgment”, “color”, and the rest.
Does it work in Word and Outlook?
Yes. Voibe types wherever your cursor is: Word, Outlook, Teams, your practice management or document management system, or any other app. There's no plug-in to install and no separate window to dictate into.
Can Voibe remember my letter endings and boilerplate?
Yes. Voibe's Memory lets you tie a spoken phrase to any block of text. Say “end letter” and your standard closing appears; say “standard reservation of rights” and the whole paragraph drops in — spelled and formatted the way you saved it.
Do I still need to review what Voibe writes?
Yes. Voibe produces a clean first draft — punctuation added, filler removed, terms and names spelled the way you saved them. Like any dictation tool, it is not a substitute for reading the letter before it goes out or checking a citation before it is filed.
Which platforms does it run on?
Both Mac and Windows. The fully on-device mode runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1–M4); a private, zero-retention cloud mode is available on Intel Macs and Windows.
How much does it cost?
$19 per seat per month, $190 per seat per year, or $399 per seat for life — unlimited dictation, no per-minute fees. Firms with 3 or more seats get 20% off every plan; 10 or more seats get a custom firm plan. Every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee. Dragon Professional, by comparison, lists at $799+ per seat.
